This week’s readings will continue going through Ezekiel as the Old Testament reading, and through the Psalms chronologically. The New Testament readings will begin in Acts. Acts is essentially volume 2 of the two-part history of the church that was started with Luke’s Gospel. Luke, a close ministry associate of the Apostle Paul, wrote to give an individual names Theophilus a comprehensive account of the Christian faith. The Gospel of Luke covered “all that Jesus began both to do and teach” and Acts was to cover what Jesus did after the resurrection, when “he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen” (Acts 1:1-2). Thus, while the acts are of the apostles, they really are of Christ Jesus working through His church.
